Memoirs and Reflections By Evgeny Kissin

Epub memoirs and reflections for adults

Memoirs and ReflectionsI have seen Kissin playing in several locations and like everybody was always amazed by his technical supremacy at the piano At the same time I always felt Kissin as a person came across as a somewhat robotic shy dry aged Wunderkind In this short autobiography however an altogether different Kissin emerges He is warm reflective modest and exhibits a sense of humor that I for sure would never have expected given his personality on stage The book is replete with colorful vignettes about people he has interacted with Being myself Austrian one of my favorite stories is about an already very old Herbert von Karajan conducting a concert with a very young Kissin as the soloist where it turned out that old Karajan s preferred tempo was about 40 percent slower than young Kissin s preferred tempo All in all this book is a fascinating read for people interested in classical piano music 204
