The Bliss of Ignorance is the first part of A New Haven Trilogy and I waskeen to read this thriller I didn t let me down It was fluently written and a very interesting read I really enjoyed thestoryline with flashbacks and scenes from present day The characters were well developed and I do love the story twists. Book the bliss of ignorance pdf free So I want to give this book a 4 star rating on 5 but I hope to read theother stories as well Perhaps that will make things clear Ray Filasky Excellent book A little scary when you are aware of the current political situation An absolute must read Ray Filasky It is a perfect thriller in all senses the characters are very well developed and you will embark on the story of the Haskins family which most readers may find intriguing and hard to stop reading I am certain the rest of the series of book will be as fascinating as this one Ray Filasky This book is the start of a trilogy about New Haven the new country province made for non white people in the USA The elected officials in America are trying a drastic cure for racism in the country by creating a separate country with its own government for those of darker skin Our main protagonist is Tee a white pastor with a black wife The timeline is just after the 2016 elections and he and his wife are to be separated by this redistribution of people This is an interesting look at an attempt at separate but equal As with that law it is clear to see how power hungry people can come in to create the world they want This book sets up all the characters and the relationships for the rest of the trilogy As you can guess Ray Filasky immerse us in the story of the Haskins family which with money and power manipulate from senior officials up to DC It was hard to stop reading because each chapter keeps you with the expectative of what is going to happen next The evolution of each character is perfect The development of the story is very realistic and entertaining Justice intrigue racism values love It has all the ingredients that makes it a perfect Thriller Ray Filasky Aspirations choose our path however our response to life s obstacles is mostly forged from the slag of desperation We see their specters building on the horizon all too often choosing to believe they don t exist Tee and Emma Haskins now know those obstacles are there the question is can they live with them It wasn t until 2017 that Tee Haskins had to confront those obstacles the issues that had been neatly packed away for twenty seven years His position as a Church Pastor in the college town where his wife Emma taught helped him forget the alienation from his family long before they were married and the success of their son as an up and coming attorney validated the fact that life was good Good that is until their world fell apart a world that wasn t as accepting as they had come to believe a world that said they had to be separated a world that was not all of what it seemed to be a world that tore open the wounds long thought healed Recent racial tensions had galvanized public sentiment around those who promised restoration of order yet it is within the illicit cohabitation of fear and protection that fascism is always born Wanting the riots to stop and tension to ease no one envisioned the ramifications of the sought after solutions or the speed in which they were implemented especially since it had been barely over a year since the 2016 elections Separatism was certainly not considered a blueprint for social justice today or at least that s what everyone thought Everyone that is except the scheming elected officials who railroaded the legislation by duping the American people and the few dedicated souls that knew it and kept up the fight to undo the resulting injustice the few who had lost the most Tee his best friend and a group of strangers connected only by the internet kept pressing forward determined to succeed at any cost they had to let others know the truth if they ever stood a chance of putting their own lives back together The Bliss of Ignorance leaves the reader with the unsettled feeling one gets when fiction skirts too close to reality and keeps them engaged as the characters struggle through this improbable turn of events Racial tensions political intrigue passion loss and the strength of personal character are all uniquely blended to connect us to the story and its participants as Tee and Emma model the kind of love and commitment many of us wish for The Bliss of Ignorance A New Haven Trilogy 1 Twisted dystopian society in New HavenThe Bliss of IgnoranceI want to thank Booktasters for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. The bliss of ignorancep png Right off the bat I want to say that the editor if there is one did a horrible job Maybe it s my English teacher s eyes but I had a difficult time getting through the first third of the book because of all the errors Of course there were minor typos like form instead of from but there were grammatical errors as well In one piece of dialogue hear was used instead of here and to instead of too Instead of Human Resources it was Human Recourses and were instead of where These are examples that popped out at me Also there were many common nouns that were capitalized These are just a few of the examples I found distracting Seriously Mr Filasky if you are in the market for a new editor I know a certain librarian former English teacher who would love the opportunity What this text lacks in editing it makes up for in content This weird little dystopian world is a precautionary tale on social justice replacing the current justice system When corrupt politicians team up with propaganda spewing media they can easily manipulate society The flow is very interesting the way it pops back and forth between past and present Filasky does a brilliant job of leaving just enough threads to tie the different scenes together so the reader can figure out what is happening and who the characters are and how they are related to each other The premise for his story is believable and the twists along the way really spice up the tale. Phrase ignorance is bliss I have rarely seen so many characters so well developed Although they may remain static throughout the book they are far from flat They may not change much from beginning to end but the reader is granted glimpses into the psyche of each of the characters The motivations and feelings of the characters are methodically developed and exposed to the reader even if they are not made clear to the other characters The protagonist is a sympathetic man who doesn t seem to fit into his own family Filasky opts to employ indirect characterization on his characters which makes them richer and authentic Although there were some bothersome stereotypes there were also some characters who shattered cliche stereotypes For example in the beginning of the story Tee a white farmer s son has a crush on Emma one of the black field worker s daughter in the early 70 s when it was still kind of taboo for interracial couples And Emma earned her PhD in the late 70 s which was against most stereotypes of the time However Tee s family is one huge cliche Except for Tee the whole family is white rich protestant conservative and so corrupt the devil could take lessons There is not much redeemable about the whole family and then poor ole Tee is like the step child He doesn t fit in with the rest of them. The bliss of ignorancey lyrics I recommend this book to all readers with a warning to try to ignore the grammatical and mechanical problems After reading about 100 pages you kind of get used to them Ray Filasky Ray Filasky hit a home run with this book So much of the context hit home for me He had me hooked 10 pages in Be warned The Bliss of Ignorance is not a linear read Filasky takes us on a solid ride of present day angst and flashbacks to help readers to better understand the whys whats and whens I found his writing style to be pleasant Each character was well developed even the unlikeable ones lol and Filasky milked the most out of the supporting characters as most helped move the story along I found myself muttering a couple of times Oh ___ just needs to be slapped one good time LOL But this is the level of emotion I expect to feel when reading a book Thankfully The Bliss of Ignorance did not disappoint.
